DAVE THE CHIMP if television is your God, is Jesus the Remote control

 

The Biokip Gallery opens its doors from the 7th – 30th April 2007 to exhibit the works of Dave the Chimp, one of the leading figures of the whole street art movement, in an exposition titled “If Television is your God, is Jesus the Remote Control?”

Promising expositions that will make us think.

 

Dave draws and paints ever since time allowed and in the streets for a decade.  He soon became one of the most representative figures in the street art community. He helped create Big Cheese Magazine and is also a founding member of Finders Keepers Crew.

The English artists works as the head designer at Hessen Metal Skateboard Hardware and as resident artist for design/advertising agency Fold7.

He is now busy collaborating with German artist team Flying Fortress under the name Visual Rock Stars.  Also he finally made his directorial debut making a video clip for the band Robots in Disguise.

Dave the Chimp’s works appear between the pages of many magazines and books on street art as website Wooster Collective’s “Hollywood-the remix”, two issues of “The art of rebellion” and on an Italian magazine “Izastickup”.

The numbers of expositions during his career are countless; some were organized in London, Munich, Hamburg, Barcelona, Milan, Portland and Tokyo.

 

In “If Television is your God, is Jesus the Remote Control?” Dave the Chimp uses holy images from the world of religion, focusing on their significance than to the techniques. He prefers a simple style and points out “If you're told what to think, then where do you have the space for your own thoughts?

Dave’s work was designed to make people think and he puts emphasis on engaging the viewer’s mind.

 

Exhibiting in the Biokip Gallery Dave the Chimp aims to create a show that requires everybody’s participation.

No fear, nothing scary.
